One request, multiple requirements. A mid-sized supplier may receive a customer questionnaire, a bank's data request and a reporting template in the same quarter. The topics overlap; the definitions, scope and versions often do not. Sustin shows where they meet and where they differ, so information is prepared once and reused where it fits.

From financial year 2027, EU rules limit what reporting customers may require, for their sustainability reporting, from suppliers with up to 1,000 employees.

Follow one supplier from a customer's request to a traceable response, in five steps.

i5Benchmark Framework

The i5Benchmark Framework translates the vision into five assessment domains.

Select a domain to read its scope.

  • Human Experience (Core domain): Actual conditions, rights, agency, capabilities and benefits experienced by affected people.
  • Sustainable Practices (Core domain): Environmental burdens, resource use and ecological outcomes across operations and value chains.
  • Resilience & Adaptability (Core domain): Capacity to anticipate disruption, sustain functions, recover and adapt without transferring unacceptable burdens.
  • Responsible Innovation (Enabling domain): Justification, anticipation, participation, readiness and evaluation of consequential technological or non-technological change.
  • Accountability (Enabling domain): Answerability for decisions, conduct, claims, conflicts, challenge and effective remedy.
  • Cross-cutting layer: Cultural Grounding & Contextual Legitimacy. Applies across all five domains, with five interpretive considerations to guide understanding and local validation; it is not a separate threshold layer.

07 · Questions

Frequently asked questions

001Is Sustin a compliance tool?

Sustin supports compliance readiness. It shows which requirements apply to you, by edition, financial year, undertaking size and request purpose, links them to your evidence, and shows gaps and where information can be reused. It does not certify anything or decide whether you comply: compliance conclusions and assurance rest with organisations and their auditors.

002Does Sustin store my files?

Not while Sustin is in early access. There are no accounts yet, and the Analyse tab shows a sample analysis computed in advance, so nothing you type there is sent or stored. When Sustin profile opens, your organisation's data will be kept in your profile workspace, separate from the Sustin registry of standards and relationships, and you will decide who can see it.

003How are relationships reviewed?

AI may propose a relationship and draft a summary; it is labelled with its method and tool. A relationship becomes Human-reviewed when a named reviewer has checked it and recorded a decision, date and note, and Approved when a second qualified reviewer, independent of the first, has confirmed it. The public worked example shows only Human-reviewed and Approved relationships, each with its label, basis and review status.

004What is the value-chain cap?

From financial years starting on 1 January 2027, the cap limits what a reporting undertaking may require, for its sustainability reporting, from undertakings in its value chain with up to 1,000 employees: the datapoints listed in Annex II of the Voluntary Standard (Delegated Regulation (EU) 2026/1560). A protected undertaking may decline items beyond the cap, and the requester must flag those items. The cap does not cover requests for other purposes, such as due diligence, and it works through national transposition, due by 19 March 2027.

005How does Sustin relate to i5Benchmark?

i5Benchmark is a separate framework and assessment by Sustainable Intelligence ASBL, for organisations that want to assess human-centred progress beyond compliance. It adopts Sustin releases: each i5Benchmark release names the Sustin release it uses, by release ID and manifest hash. Using Sustin never requires i5Benchmark. Certification is a separate scheme run by independent bodies.

006When a standard changes, can I still use my earlier evidence?

Often, yes. Evidence such as invoices, records and calculations keeps its source, period and coverage, and Sustin tracks each edition of a standard with the dates it applies. When a new edition or an amendment arrives, Sustin shows which requirements changed and which relationships need a new review. Evidence linked to an unchanged requirement can usually be reused; where a definition, boundary or reporting period changed, check whether the evidence still fits before you reuse it.
